maverickARThealing / Robin Busick*, MA, MFA
*You may know me as "Robin Galguera." I changed my name in July, 2022 because I got married! xoxox
I offer small classes, workshops, & individual studio practice that focus on art making as a transformative & healing process. Creative practice helps us to go beyond our suffering when we allow ourselves to tap into the artist that resides in all of us. While making art may not be a cure to what ails us, its power to heal and increase our sense of wellbeing is undeniable. When we enter into a creative process that focuses on the practice rather than the product or outcome, we can take ourselves to an essential place that is free from suffering, illness, & trauma. I created maverickARThealing in order to help guide individuals on this journey. I hope you will join me.

A Little Personal Stuff
I'm an Oakland, California, native. I'm a proud life-long learner with degrees in Environmental Studies, (BA) English (BA + MA), Creative Writing (MFA), and Transformative Art (MA). While writing has always been my go-to as a means of gaining perspective and "writing it out," I also use visual art processes as a means of expression and transformation.
My description on Instagram says: writing workshop leader | poet | painter | graphic designer | art healer | dreamer | mom | bad ass Oakland girl That pretty much sums it up!
As a professional writer, I've published poetry, personal essays, and book reviews, both in print and online. I've been an avid journal-keeper for the past 40 years, and that process has gotten me through traumatic experiences and major life changes. I believe deeply in the power of putting pen to paper. There is a transformation that takes place through the actual act of writing that is magic.
My heartfelt desire is to help people see the value of art-making as a way of healing and feeling a great sense of well-being. Lots of research has been done on the intersection of art practice and healing. I'm not inventing anything new, just acting as an encouraging sojourner through some of the processes that have worked best for me.
Everyone has a story to tell, whether it's positive or negative or neutral. Everyone has a voice that deserves to make its way out into the world. I am honored to be a guide for creative growth and transformation.
